Non-preemptive two-machine open shop scheduling with non-availability constraints

چکیده
We study a two-machine open shop scheduling problem, in which the machines are not continuously available for processing. No preemption is allowed in the processing of any operation. The objective is to minimize the makespan. We consider approximability issues of the problem with more than one non-availability interval and present an approximation algorithm with a worst-case ratio of 4/3 for the problem with a single non-availability interval.

MILP Formulation and Genetic Algorithm for Non-permutation Flow Shop Scheduling Problem with Availability Constraints
In this paper, we consider a flow shop scheduling problem with availability constraints (FSSPAC) for the objective of minimizing the makespan. In such a problem, machines are not continuously available for processing jobs due to preventive maintenance activities. We proposed a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model for this problem which can generate non-permutation schedules. Furthermor...
متن کاملOn-Line Scheduling of Two-Machine Open Shops Where Jobs Arrive Over Time
We investigate the problem of on-line scheduling two-machine open shops with the objective of minimizing the makespan. Jobs arrive independently over time, and the existence of a job is not known until its arrival. In the clairvoyant on-line model, the processing requirement of every job becomes fully known at the arrival of the job, while in the non-clairvoyant on-line model, this processing r...
متن کاملTwo-Job Shop Scheduling Problems with Availability Constraints
This paper addresses the complexity of scheduling problems considering two jobs to schedule and availability constraints imposed on the machines. A polynomial algorithm called temporized geometric approach is first proposed for the minimization of the makespan, under the non-preemption constraint. Then, a generalization to the preemptive case is developed. These algorithms are extensions of the...
متن کاملA Job Shop Scheduling Problem with Sequence-Dependent Setup Times Considering Position-Based Learning Effects and Availability Constraints
Sequence dependent set-up times scheduling problems (SDSTs), availability constraint and transportation times are interesting and important issues in production management, which are often addressed separately. In this paper, the SDSTs job shop scheduling problem with position-based learning effects, job-dependent transportation times and multiple preventive maintenance activities is studied. ...
متن کاملFlexible job shop scheduling under availability constraints
In this paper, an exact geometric algorithm is presented for solving two-job sequencing and scheduling problems in flexible flow shop and job shop environments while the resources are (un)available in some time periods and processors (un)availability is the same in all work centers. This study seems utterly new and it is applicable to any performance measure based on the completion time. The in...
